Just a second, Tony, that's not what happened. The consensus estimate for the fiscal second quarter prior to the pre-announcement was 44 cents. The company pre-announced earnings in the range of 40 cents to 42 cents, then reported final earnings per share of 44 cents.

However, the higher results were not due to the company's closing some other deals. The quarter had already ended by the time of the pre-announcement. The additional 2 cents reflected some legal expenses originally included in operating expenses that were reclassified as non-recurring because the litigation was settled. Moreover, a larger component of license revenue than expected came out of deferred license revenue. If you adjust for the deferred license revenue, the company was off its own plan for both domestic and European license revenue.

If you've been talking with many of the company's top sales managers, what do they think of Gardner's resignation?
