The big news of the day will be the December
employment report, with economists expecting a
similar amount of new jobs and the same
unemployment rate as in November. A surprise on
the upside in payrolls would likely roil the bond
market, but a corresponding stock-market selloff
could lend some strength to fixed-income. (For

preview.)

Expected Earnings Reports

(Expectations and estimates as reported by First
Call/Thomson Financial. Unless specified, the
first quarter ends in March, the second in June, the
third in September and the fourth -- you guessed it
-- in December. Figures are per-share.)

Genome Therapeutics (GENE:Nasdaq -
news), first quarter (November). Estimate:
loss 5 cents. Year-ago: loss 13 cents.
