paul.....buy puts??? oddly enough i am only averse to buying puts as insurance against a stock i own....prefer to sell a covered call or the underlying if i fear a strong down trend....keeps with my "cash in" over "cash out" philosophy.... looks like the brcm and jdsu pieces of cake have turned into "a big pile of "crumbs" .... don't understand the acat rejection....i didn't have such a problem, in spite of the account not being frozen, as it was adjusted by both brokers on settlement/transfer date....maybe they liked you so much they wanted to hold onto you! good luck ed a.
