John, I don't think the problem with Win2000 will be bugginess; rather, the fact that you will have to get updates (when available) for most or all of your favorite software. The massive hassle (and thus potentially high cost) factor will keep my NT4.0 & my Win98 computers running their exisiting OSes for quite some time.

BTW, if you read the MS web info, they come out and say that if you mostly play games and stuff, stick with Win98. I know they are secretly hoping for a widespread adoption, but the software incompatibilities will drive people nuts. After a while (6 months to a year) there may be enough patches you can get so that most software, even gaming, will work well. By then we can compare the Win98 follow-on to Win2000 Professional. Or maybe those with Win98 who do a lot of gaming will begin to see the folly of it all and just pick up a dedicated gaming platform and convert their PC to Linux for e-mail and the web.
