slacker: T'ain't so simple. TI makes fine DSP chips but has no license from the Q so, zero repeat zero CDMA ASICs.

Nokia has a license from the Q for phones and can make its own ASICs under license.

No matter what happens in 3rd gen, TI can not supply Nokia with all the widgets it needs in its phones - DSPs yes, the other chips needed for the chip set, no.

Perhaps something of a cut and paste job can be put together but the Q will end up with royalty payments regardless.

Will be fun to watch, but TI is not repeat not in a position to challenge the Q on the guts of the Q's strength - its ASICs.

And neither as a practical matter is Nokia - especially with the lead in data the Q is incorporating into its advanced ASICs.

Suggest you relax.

Best.
