But even that catastrophe was nothing compared to the mangled bodies and newly created scrap metal that occurred when Georgia and Wyoming switched. The train wreck in Nebraska is still a matter of legend, and poets will continue to write of the "Wreck Of The Millennium" as the westbound Amtrak slid off the tracks, crashing into the wheat stubble below. Luckily for the residents of Wyoming, the eastbound train was empty, since not a single person wanted to go to Georgia. When the news of the wreck reached the well-armed citizens waiting at the only Wyoming train station, there was wide-spread celebration.
