You may see my previous post about the competition VRTY is facing: techstocks.com Infoseek is in fact a pretty decent (text retrieval) search engine. All the major search directory companies except Yahoo! (e.g. Excite, Infoseek, Lycos, AltaVista) are selling their search technology. And all of them have pretty decent products, especially for high volumn searches. Fulcrum, Open Text (which bailed out of the search directory battle field long ago), Excalibur, and PLS are probably those major ones whose focus is more on the engine part. GT
