Thanks, Dave, I'll call you on my G* phone (as soon as I get it) to let you know when I'll be in town.

I spoke with Brian of Globalstar USA earlier today and have the following info to pass along per my conversation with Brian:
- The big rollout is expected "on or around" February 15, at which time there will be "hundreds of distributors" of G* handsets throughout the U.S.
- Handsets are to sell in the $1200 to $1500 price range, although most distributors seem to be selling at the $1499 price.
- The average cost for a satellite call within the U.S./Canada is expected to be about $1.50/min. The average cost for satellite calls outside the U.S. is expected to be about $2.99/min. A couple of examples of satellite call pricing follows: Italy to U.S. - $2.20/min., Canada to France - $2.00/min. The cost-of-call variable is distance between locations.

Brian passed me on to his voice mail to listen to his outgoing message made on a G* satellite connection. No doubt there was some loss of quality (mainly volume) due to going from G*phone through voice message through land-line, but overall quality was fine.

The closest distributor to the Dallas area is in Houston and is now selling handsets.

One concern I have is that Brian stated there will be hundreds of distributors throughout the U.S. but I can't find one in the D/FW area who thinks they'll be selling G* handsets in February.
