Isn't Q4 usually a lot better than Q3? So that a crummy Q4 might well produce better numbers than a good Q3? The analysts should see through that, but given Intel's long track record, it will likely be given the benefit of the doubt.

Another thing is that Intel had a shortage of goods to sell in Q4 which probably resulted in lower marketing costs (no need to advertise what you don't have available to sell) and fewer discounts. So net profit could still end up OK.
