It seems to me that I have heard the oxymoron Shark Ladies endearingly applied to some of the kinder, gentler souls who inhabit the GNET threads. I do not know its derivation but I recall Levy fondly using it recently.

Chai is a Hebrew word meaning life, as in the toast, "L'chaim" (To life). In Hebrew alphas are also numeric. The word chai is written with 2 letters, which are the tenth and eighth, respectively, in the alphabet. Thus, the number 18 and the word chai are written/spelled the same way. For the obvious reason, the number 18 and all its multiples are considered good luck. This ends the first lesson in Kabalah 101.
