I first started following the market in the early 60's. I am a financial person by background (CPA no longer practicing and a chief financial officer of a large NYSE company). PE ratios today are much higher than they were years ago. Some stocks go for very high prices, and they don't make any money. Dell has a very high PE ratio for a "box maker". Cisco has been a very profitable holding for me for some time and its PE ratio is stratospheric.

The basis for buying Gateway is belief in their growth strategies and their new management. It is a long term consideration -- otherwise, it should not be bought. I use Gateway computers, and I like them very much. I think their equipment is great; therefore, I choose to own the stock -- for the long haul. Having said all of this -- my track record is very good, but I have made mistakes -- usually by selling too soon. That does not mean I am right (for certain) about Gateway -- it is merely my opinion.

This has gotten way too long, so I will stop. In any event, I again wish you and me and all the long term holders the best of luck.
