wr hembrect is an investment bank and have lead the offerings on ravenswood, salon.com and andover...since they are lead underwriter, they do have to settle for scraps...imo, the dutch ssystem simply does not work...either people underestimate what the street is willing to pay(ie-andn..priced at 24 and quickly hit 90 the first day of trading despite ducth system) hence is similar to what occurs right now anyway...or people pay a fair price and there are no profits to be had ...the one thing that the dutch system does do is to allow the individual willing to accept less profits by bidding high to have access to some ipo's...but in the process, they have to accept more risk too.
