***All OT .. Who owns a child?*** Do all the authorities, and Uncle Tom Cobbly and all, the Congressmen and judges get involved with every child?

It seems that everyone is more concerned about getting a piece of the action than about the child. The Republican Congressman who was so worried about him is NOT using him as a political pawn according to his own dumb mouth. But on Larry King Live, that turkey confirmed [yet again] that the USA is not homogenously a wonderful place and he is doing precisely that. He made a case for ignoring subpoenas from people like the Republican Congressman, as a noble act of civil disobedience.

Fancy having 'authorities' like that guy running your life. What a nightmare. What with Spycatcher Senator Lott of Laughs [who has been trying to pin things on supersleuth solder-spy Bernard Schwartz - who coincidentally was a large money donor to the Democratic Party] you can foregive me [surely] for poking fun at the process.

Then again, the USA HAS got the best politicians money can buy. Well, had them anyway. You don't see many Lincoln Memorial or Jefferson Memorial type marble monuments to Jerry Ford, Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Raygun, George Bush, Bill ["Ah am innocent"] Clinton. Anyone carving another face in Mount Rushmore?

Nation States with grand glory have had their day. Even the most powerful nations on the planet will fade away with the shifting sands of the human psyche. The mighty USSR is a faded, sad echo of it's former grandiosity. China is trying still to pump up the Martial Bands while Jiang Zemin
reviews goose-stepping troops to celebrate 50 years of glorious proletarian revolution. The USA is jaded though still the most powerful nation on earth and the best in a wide range of ways.

Let's build monuments to Vincent Cerf, Linus thingamy, the CERN Web man or maybe Irwin Jacobs and Andrew Viterbi who gave the world CDMA and the WWeb.

Meanwhile, Liam, a little 3 year old New Zealand boy is being treated in some Mexican 'clinic' for a kind of cancer. His parents decided not to allow chemotherapy and went on the run in NZ. Some charlatan conned them into having 'treatment' with magnetic fields or some stupidity.

Naive NZers who agreed with the idea of parental rights to control their child's life and death helped hide them for months. The authorities [doctors, family courts, judges] decided the parents should lose control during treatment. In the end they gave up and lifted the court order because the parents successfully hid and the process was worse than just leaving them alone.

Now he is going to die. A LOT of people are going to feel awful. The parents should feel bad though they were acting as best they could in their ignorance and belief in magic, alternative medicine and rot like that. The charlatan should feel worst of all. He surely must know he was assisting in killing a child through the omission of sensible treatment.

What a sad world it is at times.
