JDN, RE: Someone is obviously trying to make EMC look less good, wonder if some large shorts have the power to cause the Specialist to enter a low ball trade at the end just to demoralize the longs??

The $110 close was a third market trade, so the specialist isn't to blame here. The NY close was 113 3/8.

Comical to me, however, was the opening and closing trades for today. The open was officially delayed by an order imbalance. It's almost a regular occurrence. A buy imbalance was posted 20 minutes prior to the close, and cancelled 10 minutes later. The specialist almost seems like he is scared of the stock.

If you want to see a good specialist trade a stock, look at Lucent and the wild action on Friday. This stock traded the most volume of any stock ever that day, and the New York range for the entire day was 51-54«. That is EMC's range on a normal day. THAT is how a specialist does his job properly.
