I also forgot to mention Shasta. Apparently, LU does not have a product which competes with Shasta. Yesterday, Sun announced that Sun, Netscape and Nortel would work on the standards for ASPs. Sun is recognizing Nortel's lead in network management. Contivity Internet VPN Solution Has Broad Customer Acceptance
BILLERICA, MA, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ - Nortel Networks (NYSE/TSE: NT) not only commands the largest share of the Virtual Private Network(VPN) gateway market, but its share is growing faster than those of its competitors, according to a new report from the Synergy Research Group(SRG).
SRG reports that Nortel Networks is the leader for the third consecutive quarter, enlarging its share of VPN gateway revenue to 29.1 percent at the end of the third quarter 1999, up from 21.3 percent at the end of the previous quarter.
Nortel Networks also was No. 1 in units shipped in the third quarter, with 19.3 percent of the market, compared to 13.7 percent at the conclusion of the second quarter. Third-quarter shipments of Nortel Networks' Contivity Extranet Switches increased by 80 percent from the second quarter.
