Not so fast ... .95 per share includes a non-recurring tax benefit.

Discounting this benefit, earnings are .77 per share.

Still, this is 2 cents above the estimate, despite the warning yesterday from analysts that they might fall short.

To me this is great news. However, I doubt it will be enough to stir this oversensitive, hyperactive, short-sighted market. I wouldn't be surprised to see USR jump a bit in after-hours trading, but slump on Thursday.

If only 3COM weren't hanging around our necks...
