You surely know that Bertelsmann is cooperating with AOL, forming an internet sales subcontractor called BOL? Sure, we cannot 'imagine a similar bold deal in Europe' - but I think those parts of business of Time/Warner and AOL that actually ARE situated in Europe right now, or are in any way local appendices to the American companies, are already too heavyweight to assume they didn't have any impact on the mutual evaluation ...
