These suggestions of a buyout are, IMHO, a pipe dream and wishful thinking and hoping. Remember, there have been TAKEUNDERS in the past. This patient is in the hospital (not in the ICU as some on this thread would have you believe), and, with a good doctor (Schmidt) recovery is certainly possible. An acquiror would pay little more than book for this company AT THIS TIME. Also, why in God's name would the good DR. come on board if a takeover was in the cards?! He doesn't want to cash a pay check from 3 companies and relocate 3 times within 3 months. Chance of a takeover .01%.
On another matter, does anyone know if the good Dr. was granted any stock options from NOVL as part of his compensation package, and, if he did, at what prices they might vest? I remember Pfeiffer at Compaq had this as an inducement, and he certainly turned that company around.
