Hi Lizzie -- I will have to keep this brief. I just gave one of my main typing fingers a good whack while slicing an onion -- who knew there was an artery in your index finger??

You may want to check your numbers before I start.

I have repeatedly identified CA school districts for you that are doing great in spite of having some of the lowest funding in the state.

In my opinion, the main reasons many CA schools are doing poorly are --

1. An hideous portion of the budget goes into special programs.

2. The education establishment in CA is fond of mainstreaming experimental and downright strange teaching methods. Most decent private schools do not teach fundamental language and math skills by the methods used in public schools. Much that is useful is learned by repitition and memory -- these are dirty words in much of public education.

3. Social problems. Make your own list -- there are plenty.

Please notify us when you will be on Crossfire -- I don't want to miss.

Mike
