Germany's biggest union, IG
Metall, demanded wage increases of as much as 5.5 percent for this

The wage demand, which exceeded analysts' expectations,
boosted bond yields as investors speculated that the European
Central Bank will need to raise borrowing costs to prevent growing
spending power from igniting inflation.
