LOL, will be up when it gets warmer.. say upper 40s. ;0)

The talk of the drunken cart driving brought back a fond memory for me.

The golf coach from a local college wanted to come down and play with me to see what sorta golfer I was. I had not met the guy previously so I invited him down for our wednesday night game.

Well he gets there, all of 5 foot 2 and 280 lbs. Chubby little dude, nickname of spike. I figure this guy is just a coach and not a player so, naturally, I offer him a beer to loosen him up. Of course I had to have one with him. Well by the end of the first nine I believe we were on a beer a hole pace. I was having one of the best rounds of my life with 4 birds and a eagle on the front. Cept for that pesky double bogey on 5 the fire was lit for the back.

Well, we get to the 17th hole. Putter still scorching hot and I am 3 strokes off the course record. Two par fives to go. By this time coach is real relaxed and playing well.

I hit a strong hook which sets up perfect for the hole and coach takes it high over the trees taking out the doglegs. We decide since we both hit nice drives its time for another beer. Well, it was my college days so I challenge him to a slam contest. Boy were we ever impressive to the rest of our group when we finished our beers in under 9 seconds flat.

We get in the cart... one of those old harley davidson style Parcars where the bags lay flat in the back instead of upright. (point being its sorta top heavy) And head down the gravel cart path. Problem was that last slam had finally gotten to me.... We roll down a hill and toward the bottom there is a turn. I tap (uh, maybe more than a tap) on the brakes to slow us down. The brake lock kicked in and I turned the wheel anyway. Next thing I know I am bouncing off the pillow my coach wore (others call it a stomach) and landing softly on the ground. After figuring out what the hell had just happened I ask him if he is alright. "sure" he says "now lets go get these birdies"...

needless to say the cart would not run so we had to walk the final two holes. I think this is the reason I finished birdie, par and did not set the record. ;-)

I musta made quite an impression. Got a full ride and had some of my best college memories partying with that coach. Other teams would talk about having partys in thier rooms, our coach took us to strip bars.........
