Is this the same press release?

biz.yahoo.com

If so, I notice a few things.

First, they're doing this to replace a farm of 60+ Compaq servers. That recognizes the high TCO of the PC paradigm, and isn't a net gain for the Wintel world.

Second, they're moving to "thin client" computing, which is what we've been saying is the future.

Third, it's configured not as a 32-way server, but as 6 server nodes with "in-the-box" clustering. Presumably that's because Win2000 can't scale to 32 processors. 6-way Wintel machines have been available for some time, so other than putting half a dozen of them in one box and clustering them (I wonder how well _that_ will work), this can hardly be considered innovative.

Fourth, they're only handling 2,000 users -- that's hardly a big load by today's standards.

Still, I suppose it's an excuse to issue a press release.

JMHO.
