Lastly, and the real reason for posting this: How do you know Jim? Perhaps you explained it somewhere before, but I couldn't find it. Just a short note would help.

I think we first met at about 14 (25 years ago) when we were both in Amity Junior High in Orange, CT. I'd say we remained very good friends throughout high school but not necessarily "best" friends. Our senior year he was President of the Student Council and I was VP so we did see each other more than occasionally back then. After college we hardly communicated at all, save one reunion, until I wrote him to give my support about his "situation" early last year. I don't know how to describe our relationship today other than to say, in general, one tends to have a much purer relationship with friends from childhood as there's no baggage from the pretense that comes from one's professional life.

I note in your profile that you went to Union College. I have always been very good friends with Prof. Bill Bristol, who teaches latin american history. Wonder if you know him.

I recognize his name so he must be an "old-timer" although I don't recall taking any of this classes. My thesis advisor was Prof. Tidmarch who has since passed away (tragically at a young age). Prof. Bristol might remember me as I was quite the troublemaker in school and made the front page of the paper quite often (I was GM of the radio station and into the new wave and punk scene so perhaps... yeah, that's the ticket!) The thing that got me in the most trouble was putting out a parody issue of the school paper without telling anyone. Sound familiar? (g)

Secondly, I work in risk finance for Marsh. I find it interesting that your company supposedly provides insurance software solutions.

That's the rumor (g). Actually, if you work in P&C you should be familiar with ACORD forms. In 1991 my company started designing all those forms and writing all the code used by vendors throughout the world to reproduce them. We also sold software we wrote to insurance agents to fill out ACORD forms on their PC. Two years ago I sold that part of the business to concentrate on e-commerce solutions for insurance companies.
