DVxpert 5120 is the first single-chip MPEG CODEC (encoder and decoder) solution for streaming video over Internet Protocol (IP) and provides the potential for broadcast quality content creation and video playback over narrow, middle and broadband Internet pipes.

This video playback for internet streaming video looks like the immediate demand for the chip, with the 2-way network broadcasting costing too much ($5K) for all but a handful of companies to broadly adopt immediately. Can you techies tell me how this works for internet streaming video? I assume that the codec codes the message into MPEG compression, but how do I watch the uncompressed video at home without a MPEG decoder? I'm assuming that it's related to the IP transmission, but I'm not quite getting this. Billy? DiViT? Rieman? Fieb? Others?
