Sold my remaining 100 contracts of ZNLAT today (Jan. 2001 AMAT calls, 40s).

Bought them on 10/5/98 for 3.875,
sold them on 1/11/00 for 90.

And the money I took out of AMAT in January 1999, went into out-of-the-money LEAPs in SAP. That stock has gone from 24 to 60 in the 10 months I've held those LEAPs.

Just calculated my 1999 returns. I had a (pretax) return on investment of 138%. That includes losing almost the entire value of those QQQ puts (15% of my portfolio when I bought them, and I still hold them today).

I'm now:

65% cash
20% foreign stock (SAP)
10% U.S. value stocks/LEAPs (CMH, BSX, WPI)
5% QQQ puts (and thinking of buying more)
0% U.S. tech stocks

If the Nasdaq has another 80% runup in 2000, I'll be watching from the sidelines.

I know most of the regular posters on this thread think I'm an arrogant idiot. But just remember that I'm a rich arrogant idiot, and my money is in a safe place.
