Here's the average volatility, (High-Low)/Close*100, of the NDX stocks for the last two weeks. Historically, after a couple of days at 8% or above, the volatility drops back to 4 to 5%. This sustained volatility near 8% has not happened before over the last three years. What does it mean? Perhaps something new is happening unlike the October-1997 correction or the 1998 bear market.
