Jay, In the us it is illegal for the markets to close more than three days (hey, the lawyers run everything!). When Thanksgiving is on a Thursday, the equity markets must open Friday, even if for a half day. One year in Japan the market closed on Friday 12/26 and didn't reopen until Moday 1/5 the next year! Not to mention the Tokyo trading day is shorter. If th 9984 vols stay low, I wouldn't be surprised to see an IRI situation where the TSE took the limits off. An alternative: a week of see-sawing US markets where 9984 trades limit up or down everyday. Hey, it's the year of the Dragon!
