JAWS' Information Security Solutions Support U.S. National Plan to Fight Cyber-Terrorism
U.S. to launch program to protect critical government systems so that Americans can be more secure in Information Technology Economy; JAWS to offer extensive 5-Day Training Program for Military, Law Enforcement & IT Professionals
FAIRFIELD, NJ, Jan. 11 /CNW/ - JAWS Technologies Inc. (JAWZ: OTC-BB) announced today that federal and corporate cyber-terrorism can be combated through secure e-commerce solutions available from JAWS Professional Services Division and the company's numerous information security products and services. On January 9, 2000, the U.S. President and the Office of International Programs released its national plan to build a cyber-defense relying on new security standards, multi-layered defensive technologies, new research and through the training of investigators and forensic analysts. The document brings information security to the forefront of national business issues, and is available for review at www.whitehouse.gov. JAWS applauded this federal initiative to protect critical information infrastructure in partnership with the private sector and information technology companies. The proposed U.S. budget for fiscal 2000 for critical infrastructure is $1.7 billion, as President Clinton has requested a 17 percent increase from Congress. ``This is a very important initiative for a nation to strategically plan for information security. The U.S. is leading the way as the first nation to publicly announce a three-year plan,' said Robert Kubbernus, Chairman and CEO, JAWS Technologies. ``This is an especially timely development considering the recently well-publicized situation with the hacker-extortionist who stole credit card information from CD Universe. ``In order for e-commerce to continue to grow at such a rapid pace, business-to-business and business-to-consumer e-commerce has to be secure. This is not a fringe issue, it is of an urgent nature, and it is complex and ever-changing. Although it's unfortunate when security breaches occur, we think the U.S. government has provided excellent leadership. Now its up to businesses and consumers, and other governments alike to support the recognition that comprehensive security solutions need to be implemented,' said Kubbernus. Thomas Welch, Director, Law Enforcement, JAWS Technologies, stated ``the CD Universe security breach is not an isolated incident. Everyday, there are scores of attacks, including denial of service, corporate espionage, web- defacing and data loss. A major component of President Clinton's budget is dedicated towards IT security training for military personnel and federal law enforcement agencies. As part of our on-going security training program, we are pleased to offer a five-day intensive hands on program geared primarily towards the military, law enforcement and IT professionals, February 7 - 11 in Fairfield.' Through the recent acquisition of New Jersey-based Secure Data Technologies, JAWS' offering of security training programs complements the delivery of end-to-end security solutions, including analysis of an organization's e-commerce and information security architecture, policy development, integration of products and services, monitoring, secure data storage and retrieval and training. Registration is limited for the security-training program, and is available on the Internet at www.jawstech.com or by calling (973) 244-9890.
