Although Bauer is cursed with a certain lack of attractiveness, he is a solid social conservative, and therefore I am curious why you would not consider him on a similar footing to Keyes......I am not as pessimistic as you, so I am not as concerned about corruption. I think politics is necessarily a "half a loaf" sort of business, from where one is standing at the time, and that the trick is to get as much as you can, do your best to secure it, and then leave it to the next fellow to gain ground. That is one reason that I think one must be a Republican: without people working with one, and ready to succeed when one leads the field, one can only go so far. I want the team more or less committed to building on the Reagan legacy.......
