ECI Telecom to Supply Wireless Local Loop Solutions for Atlantic Telecom New Coverage Area in the UK
ECI Telecom Receives Over US $20 Million In New Orders From Atlantic Telecom
PETAH TIKVA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 10, 2000-- ECI Telecom Ltd.'s (NASDAQ/NM symbol: ECIL - news) fully owned subsidiary, InnoWave ECI Wireless Systems Ltd., ''InnoWave'', announced today over US$20 million in new orders, from Atlantic Telecom, a subsidiary of Atlantic Telecom Group PLC, to deliver fixed Wireless Access solutions in the UK.

InnoWave's MultiGain Wireless (MGW) systems will be deployed in Atlantic Telecom's new license area in the North West of England, centered on Manchester, as well as its existing operating systems in Scotland. The North West of England is one of the new license areas awarded to Atlantic Telecom in 1999.

To date, tens of thousands of business and residential subscribers are connected to Atlantic's services in Scotland's main cities including Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh through InnoWave's MGW systems. During the past four years, InnoWave has received major contracts from Atlantic Telecom for its wireless solutions, including a $10.3 million contract announced in mid 1999.

''InnoWave's advanced MultiGain Wireless solution has been key to enabling us to respond quickly to the growing demand for high quality services'' said Graham J. Duncan, Executive Chairman of Atlantic Telecom Group PLC. ''It is Atlantic's strategy to provide its customers with high quality, innovative, value added services within key niches of the UK telecommunications market, and InnoWave's MultiGain Wireless systems help us in rapidly achieving this goal,'' he added.

Shlomo Yariv, President and CEO of InnoWave, ECI Telecom's subsidiary, remarked: ''We are excited to accompany Atlantic Telecom with its ongoing successful penetration of providing telecommunications services throughout the UK.''

Wireless Local Loop systems utilize radio links instead of copper telephone lines to provide the connection between individual subscribers and telecommunications service providers. InnoWave's MultiGain Wireless solution supports a wide range of frequency bands in the fixed wireless market today. The Frequency Hopping CDMA technology used in the MultiGain Wireless system is designed to meet the specific requirements of Radio in the Local Loop. The MultiGain Wireless system provides digital end-to-end service and supports a variety of services including toll quality voice, high-speed voice band data and BR-ISDN.
