LOS ANGELES, Jan 11 — Hello Dolly: So nice to have
you back in town. Barbra Streisand's New Year's
Eve sellout show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas,
her first live performance since 1996, grossed
$14.7 million, setting a U.S. box-office record for
a single concert, the hotel-casino announced.

between $1,500
and $2,500, with
all 12,477 tickets
sold out.

THE PREVIOUS RECORD for a single concert, as
tabulated by industry magazine Pollstar, was $13.4 million
grossed by the Three Tenors — Placido Domingo, Luciano
Pavarotti and Jose Carreras — at Giants Stadium in New
York on July 20, 1996.
Seats for Streisand's performance Dec. 31 went for
between $1,500 and $2,500, with all 12,477 tickets sold
out. That show and a second appearance Jan. 1 that was
mostly for invited guests reportedly earned Streisand a
guaranteed payday of $15 million.
