Traffic Station Partners with U.S. Wireless to Provide Advanced Traffic Data Offering to Millions of Commuters Nationwide
Traffic Station to Offer a Unique, Interactive Platform Based On U.S. Wireless' Digital, Real-time Traffic Data Services
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Traffic Station, Inc., the leading national provider of personalized traffic and transportation information via the Internet and wireless communications devices, announced today that it will form a technical and marketing alliance with U.S. Wireless Corporation (Nasdaq: USWC; Frankfurt: USP), a leading provider of wireless location information. The alliance will unite U.S. Wireless' state-of-the art wireless location system with Traffic Station's industry leading traffic information processing and distribution systems.

Providing innovative, customized traffic reports and alerts to over 20 cities nationwide, Traffic Station will now be able to access U.S. Wireless' advanced location data collection services to supplement its other traffic data sources and reporting systems. In addition, the companies will collaborate to enable sophisticated applications for delivery of location-based traffic information to wireless subscribers. These applications, previously available only through in-vehicle navigation systems costing thousands of dollars, may soon be accessible to millions of consumers and businesses across North America through their existing wireless phones, creating new value-added revenue streams for both companies.

``Partnering with U.S. Wireless builds on the Traffic Station goal of providing commuters with the power they need to overcome their worst traffic dilemmas,' said Geoff Halstead, Traffic Station's President and CEO. ``We have always believed that, in the midst of the wireless revolution, the most important infrastructure would be the information technology and operational processes needed to turn traffic data into actionable information of use to customers. Our alliance with U.S. Wireless is a win-win for our companies -- and for customers and businesses who will benefit from unprecedented new levels of precision and accuracy from our services.'

U.S. Wireless will provide Traffic Station with highly accurate, real-time traffic data through their RadioCamera(TM) system. By monitoring the flow of cellular traffic on roads and highways, the RadioCamera system can accurately determine traffic speed and congestion to rapidly generate efficient, real-time traffic data for mobile content providers, without the use of antiquated physical equipment.

``We are very pleased and excited to be working with Traffic Station,' said Oliver Hilsenrath, President and CEO of U.S. Wireless. ``This partnership with a leading provider of mobile content will enable us to deliver our unique technology to the public, creating valuable new location information services that will enhance public safety and improve traffic management.'

Traffic Station combines comprehensive, real-time traveler information with award-winning Web design, state-of-the-art database and e-commerce technologies to provide the most advanced, consumer-oriented interactive traffic and travel condition reporting system available. As an added option, the Personal Traffic Advisor(TM) provides customized, route-specific alerts and on-demand reports. Through a sophisticated automated voice messaging system and support of Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), Handheld Device Mark-up Language (HDML) browsers and Windows CE & Palm OS enabled devices, Traffic Station offers the broadest selection of device support in the marketplace, giving mobile users relevant information as they need it to elude road congestion and other transportation problems.

Traffic Station 2.0, launched earlier this month, offers services on all WAP phones and devices, Palm PCs such as Casio's Cassiopeia and 3Com's Palm Pilot; a Call-In Center that conveniently provides travelers with personalized or route-specific reports; a Traffic Events Calendar with a comprehensive monthly traffic forecast to help plan daily routes; Traffic Events Reminders to alert travelers to scheduled events such as sporting events or concerts on their personalized routes before they delayed in them; Congestion Mapping with real time, color-coded data indicating exactly where traffic is slowing; as well as Police & Fire Reports and Construction Data with expanded city-wide freeway and Arterial Roadway coverage addressing the big problems on and off of major highways.
