Pandesic Breaks From E-commerce Pack During Q4 1999

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 2000--Pandesic LLC, the largest e-commerce ASP, today announced critical growth in its e-business solution functionality, customer wins and strategic partnerships during Q4 1999.

Led by CEO Harold Hughes, the former CFO of Intel, Pandesic's strong executive team plans to build on Q4 1999's momentum to improve its market-driven leadership position in the booming e-commerce arena by further bolstering functionality, customer base and partnerships.

Distinction

By powering over 100 e-businesses, Pandesic earned the distinction of being the largest application service provider for end-to-end e-commerce. Companies launching or re-launching e-businesses chose the Pandesic e-commerce service, tripling the e-business count of Pandesic's nearest competitor. Also, in ARC Advisory Group's E-fulfillment Solutions for E-business study, Pandesic was ranked No. 1 for E-fulfillment Software and Services Revenue in North America.

"Pandesic's revenues outpaced our projections because the e-businesses powered by our solution thrived with our practical -- yet innovative -- complete solution," said Hughes. "With our shared revenue model, we succeed only when our customers succeed. Our value to the marketplace is determined by the competitive market, as it should be."

Pandesic-powered DVD EXPRESS, located at www.dvdexpress.com, was ranked No. 2 in Forrester Research's top consumer site power rankings, just after Amazon.com, in the books, music and video category. Time Magazine named DVD EXPRESS one of its top 25 e-commerce sites. DVD EXPRESS also garnered Online Retailer of the Year by Video Business magazine and the No. 58 spot in Stores Magazine's top 100 Internet retailer ranking. eCompanyStore.com, a Pandesic e-business located at www.ecompanystore.com, ranked No. 22 in Information Week's list of the top 100 e-business innovators. In the first Feedback Direct listing of the top 50 customer service e-businesses, both DVD EXPRESS and eHobbies.com, another Pandesic-powered e-business, were selected.

The Pandesic E-business Solution

Pandesic's e-commerce ASP model is not only the largest; it is the most nimble provider of service. The Pandesic E-business Solution offers solution sets for a number of business-to-consumer and business-to-business e-commerce models, including:

-- Business-to-Consumer Direct, which provides the e-commerce
infrastructure to businesses that own the product and delivery
method;

-- Business-to-Consumer Etail, which provides end-to-end e-commerce
functionality to purely online retailers, brick-and-mortar
retailers adding online operations, and manufacturers who sell a
product brand;

-- Business-to-Consumer Events, which enables businesses that stage
a variety of performances to manage sales for different times,
seats and prices;

-- Business-to-Consumer Multistore, which provides a robust
infrastructure to scale with a marketplace's demand;

-- Business-to-Consumer Sports, which improves customer service
by centralizing information on customer buying;

-- Business-to-Business Aggregator, which centralizes buying for
economic efficiencies;

-- Business-to-Business Distribution, which streamlines and
automates supply chain and resource management for increased
productivity;

-- Business-to-Business Multistore, which creates an online open
market for independent vendors.

Functionality
In accordance with its policy of lifetime upgrades, Pandesic upgraded all of its e-businesses in September to Pandesic's 3.4 solution. This version was specifically designed from the ground up to prepare e-businesses for the holiday rush and enable a high-service e-customer experience for their shoppers. The upgrade includes enhanced online promotion capabilities and personalization tools, as well as increased inventory reporting, warehouse processing and shipping capabilities.

The Pandesic 3.4 solution is infinitely scalable, handily accommodating order and fulfillment for the 883,000 unique visitors to eHobbies (www.ehobbies.com) during the week ending Dec. 19, 1999. The week's total was a 384 percent increase over the site's regular traffic and ranked eHobbies sixth on PC Data Online's Fastest Growing Web Sites weekly report and 166th overall. In a season when many e-commerce sites lost customer confidence, the Pandesic-powered eHobbies proved its reliability to an expanded customer base.

Pandesic also proved its versatility under traffic stress during the holidays. hifi.com enhanced its e-customers' experience in December, smoothly switching its transaction process to calculate free two-day shipping for holiday orders. The shipping charges were easily reinstated after the holiday promotion.

Business-to-business operations thrive with the same Pandesic solution used by business-to-consumer operations. FacilityPro.com is a comprehensive single source offering more than 35,000 products from lighting to janitorial and plumbing supplies for facilities. Through the Pandesic-powered e-commerce site, FacilityPro clients experience one-stop automated product selection, order placement, payment and nationwide delivery.

Customers

Pandesic's powerful e-commerce engine and service drew new e-businesses in Q4 1999, including childrensplace.com, the online arm of The Children's Place, eHobbies, Artist Direct, BeautyJungle.com, the San Francisco Giants Virtual Dugout Store, Audiocafe.com, SportingAuction, Qdecor Online, image-style, CloseOutNow.com, OshKosh B'Gosh, hifi.com, DeliverNextDay.com and Eyestorm.

The e-business market has distinguished Pandesic as the largest e-commerce ASP because it is a cost-effective and reliable solution for e-commerce needs. With minimal up-front costs and a shared success revenue model, Pandesic is spurred to provide superior shopping experiences for high conversion rates.

Partnerships

The Children's Place (Nasdaq: PLCE) chose Pandesic to drive its childrensplace.com e-business for its proven reliability, personalization, customer development and maintenance tools, according to Debra Brummer, director of e-commerce for childrensplace.com. Strategic partnerships with leading service providers that complement Pandesic's solution answered e-tailers' needs for personalization and customer service. In Q4 1999, Pandesic partnered with:

-- eGain Communications (Nasdaq: EGAN), for its leading email
management and real-time web collaboration systems;

-- Netcentives (Nasdaq: NCNT), for its loyalty, promotion and direct
marketing solutions designed to drive e-commerce;

-- LinkShare, for its leading Web-based affiliate marketing programs;

-- and Net Perceptions (Nasdaq: NETP), for its personalization
packages which build customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Pandesic's e-commerce solution is built upon a Microsoft suite of products for e-commerce including Microsoft Windows NT, MS Site Server - Commerce Edition and MS SQL Server 7.0 that operates in conjunction with SAP R/3. The nimble foundation of the Pandesic solution allows for expanded functionality and rapid deployment.
