FWIW I might be able to shed a little light on that subject.

Last June, Telxon sold one of its software divisions (Real-Time Computer Specialists) to a group called SoftTechnics out of Dallas. Here is the announcement.

----------
AKRON, Ohio, June 20 (Reuter) - Telxon Corp said on Thursday it will sell its retail application software group to <SofTechnics Inc> of Dallas, Texas.

The software group consists of Retail Management Systems and Real-Time Computer Specialists, the company said. The exact terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Telxon said about 50 employees will be transferred to SofTechnics as a part of the sale.

The money put up by SoftTechnics came from a guy by the name of Bob Bevan of TM Systems in Dallas. SoftTechnics operates the software house out of Seneca Falls, NY. I happen to know someone who now works for SoftTechnics and this is what they had to say about the recent purchase by SoftTechnics. This has been edit to remove any personal names and business plans:

"I see you've been reading SofTechnics news.. The 10 software
engineers from Akron are staying in Akron. They're all good
programmers, some have been around for a long time like *** and
***, others were with Telxon for about a year.. *** and ***
were in Seneca Falls a few weeks ago to design a new ***. You know.. a replacement for ***. *** and I met with them and worked up some white board diagrams."
