Ray, some operators hold trials for their new platforms and get select groups of residents to "sign up" under various terms of no-fee, non-disclosure, etc., often groups of employees of the SP in question, when they agree to take part in these tests. Other operators keenly select throw-away neighborhoods in which they effectively do the same thing, only in the latter case they do this on the basis of an "upgrade," using version 1. Perhaps?
TV-PC-MM convergence of the type suggested by this recent merger will engender another chasm, into which you seem to have fallen without a life line. Here, catch this rope, and climb out from down there.
Unless, of course, you actually enjoy tinkering with this stuff. And if that's the case, as I suspect, stop complaining and simply supply your operator with the feedback they are expecting of you. -grin-
