NTAP does manufacture its own products, but that deserves some more explaining.

The only proprietary hardware in NTAP filers are the motherboard and non-volatile RAM. The motherboards are built by a contractor. What makes the motherboards proprietary is that all unnecessary components are stripped off the design of standard designs. What makes NVRAM proprietary is that redundant batteries with fault detection circuitry are added to standard RAM board designs.

What NTAP does in manufacturing is simply assemble, burn-in, and test configurations AS ORDERED by customers. They can build another assembly line in a matter of days. Manufacturing capacity is simply not a concern.
