Rhythms to Be Exclusive Provider of DSL-Based Videoconferencing Services For U.S. Network of Pharmaceutical Companies and Physicians
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Rhythms NetConnections Inc. (Nasdaq: RTHM - news), a North American provider of digital subscriber line (DSL)-based, high-speed Internet access and networking solutions, today announced that it has signed a three-year agreement with iPhysicianNet, the leading provider of desktop-based interactive videoconferencing for physicians and pharmaceutical companies. Rhythms will provide national access services to several thousand of iPhysicianNet's participating physicians.

Utilizing DSL technology, Rhythms will provide iPhysicianNet with a suite of Internet and network access solutions to connect its client pharmaceutical company and physician members located across the United States.

iPhysicianNet links physicians and pharmaceutical companies through PC-based, interactive videoconferencing and Internet services, allowing physicians crucial, real-time access to drug and medical information. iPhysicianNet's initial video sales application enables pharmaceutical representatives and physicians to conduct live, interactive presentations at a time convenient to the physician.

With the Rhythms solution, physicians participating in the iPhysicanNet network will enjoy the benefit of ``always on' connectivity to pharmaceutical companies and to the Internet, at connection speeds of 384 kbps. The solution capitalizes on Rhythms' ability to offer iPhysicianNet full scalability to add additional network-based services to its members in the future.

``iPhysicianNet is a fast-growing and dynamic company with a very exciting business opportunity ahead of it,' said Richard H. Johnston, Chief Sales Officer at Rhythms. ``We are pleased to partner with iPhysicianNet to construct a network that is an essential building block for their company's bright future.'

Rhythms provides managed Internet access and network services for businesses and consumers. The company offers its services through channel partners, including competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs), interexchange carriers (IXCs), Internet service providers (ISPs), network integrators, and value-added resellers (VARs).

Founded in 1996, with headquarters in Scottsdale, Ariz., iPhysicianNet uses the Internet and high-speed telecommunications technology to enhance the efficiency, quality and convenience of communications between pharmaceutical companies and physicians. The company's mission is to establish a physical and electronic presence in the private offices of practicing physicians. iPhysicanNet serves as an information portal to the physician, providing convenient and high-speed access to applications, services and content that can assist a physician in improving the quality of care delivered to patients.
