Thank you for the tip, I will check that out. I think you're right, the Ontario government would love to bring biometrics to the health care and other systems. One of the big barriers is going to be public acceptance. I work in social services, and the mention of "fingerprinting" welfare clients has sent lots of people through the roof. Many people cannot get past the association this has with "fingerprinting" criminals. I actually think it's a good idea, and probably the only way of actually verifying that the person is who they claim to be, which is what the various cards were supposed to do. It's apparent now how open to fraud and abuse cards are, which is why I think we will shortly see a big push to incorporate some kind of biometrics into debit and credit cards.
