Mercury Scheduling Systems has licensed its NOVA and NOVA Online software
products to JetBlue Airways Corp.
JetBlue Airways will immediately begin using Mercury's NOVA system, a
state-of-the-art airline crew planning application capable of running on
the Windows 95 platform, and NOVA Online, an innovative software system
that provides airlines with cost-effective Internet-based crew bidding,
which allows flight and cabin crew to enter their preferred work schedules
from anywhere in the world over the Internet.
Under the terms of the contract, Mercury will receive a recurring monthly
licence and support fee.
JetBlue Airways, considered to be the first U.S. "mega start-up" airline,
will inaugurate a unique brand of low fares and superior service from New
York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to upstate New York and
Florida. With $130-million in equity capital, JetBlue's fleet will consist
of up to 82 new Airbus A-320s. The company will be the first carrier to
equip its jetliners with 24 channels of LiveTV in-flight satellite
television at every seat.
"Mercury's products continue to attract airlines looking for high tech
solutions," president and chief executive officer Graham Whitmarsh said.
"Our reputation continues as a leading provider of innovative,
state-of-the-art airline operations software solutions."
