They are not comparable. I am big ARIBA fan from before they went public. What they offer is a web architected procurement program for company "purchasing agents". You use browser to log on and buy stuff for your company. ARIBA supports all the B2B stuff on back end to support you as well as the workflow required to support the relevant business processes (approvals, preferred vendors, MIS reporting etc). Companies can now apparently join together into groups, and use ARIBA to get mass buying discounts etc. This is a very cool application. Before B2B / WEB took off, only really big companies would sign up and things were pretty primitive. Now they have a wonderful opportunity to grow and make lots of money.
