Modern Records appoints Russ Regan president Modern Records Inc MZR Shares issued 19,680,000 Jan 11 close $1.10 Wed 12 Jan 2000 News Release Mr. Randy Jackson reports Modern Records has appointed Russ Regan as president of Modern Records. Randy Jackson will remain chairman and chief executive officer. Mr. Regan's main responsibilities will be on the operational side of the company. Mr. Regan is one of only a few record executives in the world who has had a No. 1 record in each of the last four decades. Mr. Regan started his career as a top promotion executive for Motown and promoted the top selling records for Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and the Supremes. Mr. Regan has been responsible and a major force behind the success for some of the biggest names in the music business. Industry luminaries signed by Mr. Regan are: Elton John, Olivia Newton-John, Neil Diamond and Barry White. Mr. Regan also named the Beach Boys and helped develop their careers. In the 80s, as general manager for Polygram, he was behind several hits including Flashdance, which sold over 14 million copies. In 1986 he returned to Motown as president of the creative division where he was the force behind the successful comeback of Smokey Robinson. Mr. Regan also served as president of 20th Century Fox Records where he signed the Alan Parsons project and Barry White. In 1990 Mr. Regan became president of Quality Records and led it to platinum album success for artist Timmy T. Mr. Regan has also been music supervisor for four Academy Award winning songs from the films: The Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno, Flashdance and Chariots of Fire. Mr. Regan says: "I've now spent five months with the company and I am very impressed with the team at Modern Records and I am honoured to be appointed as the company president.
