Thanks dwc: I won't be able to watch the CNBC program on Linux, so I'd appreciate it if you post a synopsis if you have the time. Thanks.
I find it hard to believe that technology analysts aren't aware of the potential of Linux. However, I believe that those analysts are thinking that while IBM, INTC, SUNW, DELL, CPQ, INPR, RHAT, LNUX, etc. are entering into this nascent business field that the effects on the bottomline won't be felt immediately. As a result, for example, the analysts are taking a look-and-see attitude with INPR and waiting for earnings reports.
Having said that, all of us that are aware of INPR and its role in the development of Linux as an alternative operating system should place our "bets" now. First, analysts are lemmings. They tend to follow other analysts. I guess that there is safety in numbers and no one wants to be too much out front. But, when those "initial recommendations" or "upgrades" come, INPR will jump (probably gap up overnight). Second, there will be consolidation. And, as you have seen from the recent AOL/TWX announcement, it isn't always rumored and expected ahead of time. |
