I like your post, but I do have one question. Why do you assume that NOK was bidding for the handset div? If they were, then I agree with your conclusion but what if they never seriously went after it. I think based on the price QCOM got it's more likely that there were not other large bidders. I realize IJ might have chosen Kyocera anyway for strategic reasons, but this should have driven the price up.

I've heard many here comment that NOK has to jump on soon (to CDMA) but I'm not sure why it would be imminent. AT&T will be rolling out a TDMA version of wireless web possibly as soon as a few months from now. Features NOK phones so I'm sure they're focused on this. While NOK will have to wake up eventually if all of us QCOM longs are right about future direction, I'm just not convinced that they think the world is moving past them - yet.
