Well I am not on the technical side.
But when talking to our targets in Europe, especially IT people, they are referring to a whole series of issues with Intel meeting deadlines, from Merced (still there top of mind for many of them, believe it or not), to Coppermine, to 820/MoBo availability, to availability of products in general (be it for production "problems" or production capacity). Gelsinger declared in public during an EMEA PR event to IT specialists that this was not acceptable and had to be fixed. Sorry I can't be much more precise, I do not have access to my files anymore ;-) What I hear is that the factory folks are working hard on this. Not that problems are behind Intel. Maybe you are more up-to-date?
Maybe also that because Intel tends to serve the US market first (which makes sense), the availability issues are worse in Europe.
In any case, put on top of this that many IT people (especially large accounts) feel that Intel "doesn't care about them" anymore, as to implement its "Internet" strategy it is trying to reach Line-of-business people rather than them, they are not exactly happy. |
