I think it is reasonable to insulate people from workplace consequences of private acts as long as their reputation is not a big factor in the reputation of the business. I would, however, hate to think that if I had a public relations firm, for example, I would be forbidden to terminate someone who gained notoriety in a manner that would discourage patronage, for example, by membership in the Ku Klux Klan......
