I do not think Alan Keyes is exactly Brad Pitt, so Bauer's looks do not factor at all in my decision to reject him. I think Bauer is essentially a politician in the same mold as Bush or any run-of-the-mill top tier Republican. I suspect he may even whither under moral pressure. Moreover, he has allowed his evangelicalism to limit his thinking. Mind, I think evangelicalism can be as intellectually liberating (indeed moreso) than any other belief system. But it can also produce quite a regimented mind. It takes all sorts to turn the world, and so a regimented mind can be a wonderful thing in the proper context. Bauer should stick with running the Family Research Council or perhaps developing a think tank or some other focused advocacy group. He does not have the breadth and flexibility of thought required to be a great president. Alan Keyes apparently does-- more than any of the candidates running today, Democrat or Republican.
