Trying to picture Alan with a pony tail & earring playing the sax and it's not a pretty picture.

Very true, but somehow I kind of like the idea of Alan with sunglasses and a beret, maybe with a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth. Sitting at a table in the village with a young Kerouac and Burroughs.
