S and P 500 addition does not have anything to do with AOL. Stocks are added and deleted almost on a daily basis. AOL would only be one slot. I see announcements once a week (or at the latest bi-weekly). Here is the link to the S and P index changes. Notice how many changes to the 500 took place in December and November---about once a week there were changes. The news releases includes a lot changes to the small cap indices as well. spglobal.com Click on December to get an idea of the frequency of changes.
