Greg,

<The most important feature of the Intel story is how Intel insists on having two or more supppliers of equipment intel buys, while insisting on it's customers rely on Intel as a single source supplier for CPU chips>

Everyone wants to be a sole source to their customer - that is always the goal. Doesn't matter if it is Intel or AMD or Pepsi.

However, it is never a good idea to give one's supplier too much control over one's destiny - so a smart customer should ensure viable alternate sources.
