Well, Tom, probably not. If you read the article carefully you'll see the reference is to the very highest quality of 200mm wafers capable of use in 0.13u line width manufacturing. WFR has never been very good at this type of wafer having problems with both surface uniformity and bulk defects in the crystal structure.

Where there might be a ray of hope is in the fact that they've come up with a way to greatly reduce the time required to grow a fairly decent 8" crystal and improved testing of bulk material before it is sliced and polished. This will have the double reinforced effect of reducing cost to manufacture. Their margins can improve on that basis, but the volume and demand seems to be more towards the high end of the market that they've so far been unable to penetrate because of their quality problems.
